Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F. Grease your cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, cream the shortening and brown sugar together with an electric mixer. Beat in the egg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt (and any optional spices).
- Add half of the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and blend well.
- Stir in the milk.
- Add the remaining dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- By hand, fold in the chopped apples, raisins, and nuts.
