Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Grease your cookie sheets.
- In a large bowl, thoroughly cream together the shortening, brown sugar, and egg with an electric mixer.
- Stir in the applesauce.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves.
- Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
- By hand, fold in the raisins and nuts.
