A rich chocolate fudge loaded with candied fruits. This vintage recipe features chopped cherries, pineapple, figs, raisins, and coconut folded into a smooth chocolate base.

MeasurementsIngredients
2 sq.Unsweetened Chocolate
3/4 c.Milk
2 c.Sugar
DashSalt
2 Tbsp.Butter
1 tsp.Vanilla
1/4 c.Chopped Candied Cherries
1/4 c.Chopped Candied Pineapple
1/4 c.Chopped Dried Figs
1/4 c.Chopped Seedless Raisins
1/4 c.Shredded Coconut

Instructions

  1. Add chocolate to milk. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture is smooth & blended.
  2. Add sugar & salt, stir until sugar is dissolved & mixture boils.
  3. Continue boiling, without stirring, to 232°F or until a small amount of the mixture forms a very soft ball in cold water.
  4. Remove from heat.
  5. Add butter & vanilla. Cool to lukewarm.
  6. Beat until mixture begins to thicken & loses its gloss.
  7. Add fruits & coconut, turn at once into greased 8x4x3 in. loaf pan.
  8. When fudge is cold, cut into squares. (Yields 18 large squares).
