Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F. Grease and flour a 9-inch baking pan.
  2. In a single large bowl, combine all the ingredients: sugar, Crisco, egg, nuts, dates, diced apples, nutmeg, salt, cinnamon, baking soda, and flour.
  3. Mix thoroughly with a sturdy spoon or spatula until everything is well combined. The batter will be very thick.
  4. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 1 hour.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan before slicing. Serve with whipped cream.
