Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 2-quart baking dish.
- Cook the whole sweet potatoes in boiling water until tender. Allow them to cool enough to handle, then peel and slice them.
- In a small bowl, mix the applesauce and cinnamon together.
- In the prepared baking dish, create alternating layers of sliced sweet potatoes and the spiced applesauce.
- Drizzle each layer with some of the honey and the melted chicken fat or margarine.
- Bake uncovered for 45 minutes, basting occasionally with the pan juices.
Note
The recipe specifies using “pareve margarine,” indicating it is a kosher recipe suitable for serving with a meat meal. The dish serves 6-8.
