3 family-sizeTea Bags (or 6-8 regular)
½ to ¾ cupSugar, to taste
1Lemon (for juice and slices)

Instructions

  1. In a kettle or saucepan, bring the cold water to a full, rolling boil.
  2. Place the tea bags in a heatproof pitcher. Pour the boiling water over the tea.
  3. Let the tea steep for 3-5 minutes until it reaches a good dark color. Be careful not to steep for too long, or the tea may become bitter.
  4. Remove and discard the tea bags.
  5. While the tea is still hot, add the sugar and stir until it is completely dissolved.
  6. Fill serving glasses completely full of ice.
  7. Pour the hot, sweetened tea directly over the ice.
  8. Add a squeeze of lemon juice to each glass and garnish with a lemon slice. Serve immediately.
