Recipe
| Measurements | Ingredients |
|---|---|
| 1 Bottle | Hearty Red Wine |
| 1 Cup | Apple Cider or Pineapple Juice |
| 1 Stick | Cinnamon |
| 6 | Whole Cloves |
| 1 tsp | Allspice |
| ¼ tsp | Grated Nutmeg |
| ½ tsp | Bitters |
| 1 | Orange, thinly sliced |
Instructions
- In a large saucepan or pot, combine the bottle of red wine, the apple cider (or pineapple juice), bitters, allspice, whole cloves, grated nutmeg, and the cinnamon stick.
- Add most of the orange slices to the pot, reserving a few for garnish.
- Gently heat the mixture over medium-low heat until it is hot and steaming. Do not let it boil, as this will cook off the alcohol.
- Reduce the heat to low, cover, and let the wine simmer gently for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Strain the mulled wine into 4 large, pre-warmed mugs.
- Float a reserved orange slice on top of each mug for garnish and serve immediately.
